The recent discovery of plastic eating bacteria, is an idea which is promoting sustainability and which may help us reduce our carbon footprint! The bacteria converts polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste, commonly found in plastic bottles, into adipic acid which is used heavily in the production of drugs, nylon fabrics and fragrances.
